One of the greatest treats in my life is to walk through the font entrance of the New Seasons Market in my neighborhood. I don't know what is so extra special about it, but I believe it has the most lovely selection of flowers arranged in the most charming manner. There is something very, "english cottage-like" to the atmosphere and I love browsing.
While I don't claim to be a master gardener or even knowledgeable in the floral arena, I'm developing a love for bringing home a fresh bouquet after careful consideration in the floral corner. It brings me peace and brightens up our whole apartment.
Today my husband brought me home some mini-zinnias I'd had my eye on earlier in the week. Apparently, flower growers have created a new breed of zinnia that grow like tiny buttons....each petal layered tightly and neatly in a near sphere formation.
Zinnias are known to attract humming birds and are the state flower in Indiana. I will admit, I'm not a big fan of the typical Zinnia style, which grows rather large and looks a little sloppy to my eye. However, these tiny "button flower" as I've named them exude a whimsy that look really lovely on my window sil.
I hope you've enjoyed learning a wee bit about Zinnias today...and keep your eye out for this new breed as it's really really unique if I do say so myself. If you are having a stressful or sad week...these will cheer you up a bit...especially on a Monday! Just remember one of my favorite quotes....
